Tsion Baheru is a 4 year old girl born with paralysis from the waist down. Her mother fell when she was eight months pregnant with Tsion, severely damaging the baby’s backbone. Her father abandoned them when he learned of Tsion’s condition. The chair you see her sitting on in the top right picture was a gift from a generous stranger. Without it, she would be forced to sit with her back bent and her neck craned. Although it takes the load off of Tsion, the same cannot be said for her mother. She was forced to carry it everywhere they went.
